What does "by concept" mean? How do these concept come about?
A "concept" is a highly relevant technology topic generated by our system based on the search result.
PatSnap's text clustering engine analyzes the content of the most relevant patents and extract the most important technology terms as concepts. These concepts can help you narrow down the search result further and locate what you are looking for. E.g. when you search for "interactive media", PatSnap engine will realtime analyze the search results and suggest relevant technology concepts such as "Media Devices", "Interactive Network", "Interactive Media Guide" and so on.

Does PatSnap keep my information confidential?
Absolutely. Nobody will be able to know your searches, browsing history or any action you perform on PatSnap. No one will see your saved patent files unless you explicitly share certain files or folders with them.

How do I create an alert?
1. On the search result page, click "Email Alert" -> the alert creation page will show up.
2. Type in Alert name, description, search query (the search query just ran is there by default), indicate your alert options such as frequency and expiry date -> Click "Save". That's all! You are all set to receive email alerts at your specified frequency.
How do I create a list?
You can create a list and add patents to it. There are 4 scenarios you can create a list:
1. On the search result page, to add all patents on the page to a list, click "Add All patents on this page to list"
2. Again on the search result page, to add one patent to a list, click the small "add to list" button as shown below.
3. On the patent page, to add the patent to a list, click "Add to List".
4. In "Advanced Search" page -> under "Bulk Download" tab, to add a set of patents to a list, input a set of patent numbers, click "Add to List". When the "Add to List" window pops up, enter the name of a new list to add the patents to. You can enter more than one lists and separate them by comma. As a result, the patents selected will be added to all these lists. You can also add the patents to an existing list (highlighted in blue).
Can I use "analyze" on my own set of patents?
Absolutely. You can input a set of patents and apply the analytics tools. You can also analyze the patents on your lists.
1. To analyze a set of patents you input, go to "Advanced Search" -> select "Citation Analyze" tab -> Input a set of patent number (one number per line) -> Click "Analyze".
2. To analyze patents on a list, click "Tools" -> Select "Lists" -> Choose a list -> Click "Analyze"
How do I export patent data from PatSnap?
There are several places for you to export patent data from PatSnap.
1. Export Search Result
2. Export My Lists
3. Bulk download.
How do I do it: Click on "Export" -> Select the fields to export -> drag and drop to rearrange the fields if you need to change the order -> Click "Submit". Wait for a few seconds and you will see a link for you to download the file with the exported patents.
How do I cancel my account?
Click "Account" -> go to the bottom of the page -> click "Please cancel my account and delete all my information".
You can choose to continue receiving alerts for 3 months after you cancel your account. After 3 months, no more alerts will be sent. However, if you do not wish to get alert, just select "Please stop sending me alerts in future" when you cancel your account.
What is PatSnap's refund policy like?
For Day Pass and Monthly Plan user if you cancel after you are billed, no refund will be issued and you will be charged for that rest of the day (Day Pass) or month (Monthly Plan). For annual plan user, you can cancel any time and get a partial refund. For example, if you sign up for an annual plan and 80 days later you decide to cancel your subscription, PatSnap will only charge you up to 3 months at the Monthly subscription rate ($99). The rest of the amount will be returned to your Paypal or bank account. Note that if you cancel more than 60 days after signing up, our payment gateway provider will charge 3.4% of the amount paid as the transaction fee, which is non-refundable unfortunately.
Do you have special price for non-profits or other group in needs?
Our prices are among the lowest in the industry. In fact, our regular prices are actually lower than many competitor’s special non-profit pricing. However, we are willing to make exceptions for special groups on a case by case basis. If you are a representative from a school, government agency or other non-profitable organization, please

Can I share my account with other people?
Absolutely. However, please note that at each time only one user can be logged in to PatSnap.
How do I change my password?
Click "Account" -> In the "old password" field, type your old password -> In the "new password", type in the new password -> Click "confirm"
