Can I use PatSnap without signing up?
Yes. It is not necessary to sign up. Anybody can use PatSnap.
Without signing up, you can search for all US issued patents and patent applications, use basic analytical tools and download some patent PDFs. However, without a user account, there is no way for us to help you keep track of your work. For example, you might have found a patent that you want to access later, or you have constructed a complex search query which you want to re-use tomorrow, or you wish to set up an alert so that we will email you whenever new patents of your interest are added to our database. Signing up for a free account is easy and takes you only 10 seconds.
Can I have multiple PatSnap accounts?
Each email address can be used only once to sign up for PatSnap account. But you can use different email addresses to sign up.
I have been using PatSnap free account. How can I change to a paid account?
Click "Account" -> "Plans and Billing" -> Select "Monthly Plan" or "Annual Plan" depending on which you want -> Click "Upgrade Now" and follow the instructions. You will need to get your bank account details ready. Payment will be made through Paypal Express Checkout.

How often is the database updated?
It is updated weekly. For non-English patents, we update once every 2-3 weeks as some translation work needs to be done.
Do the databases cover all bibliographic data and full text?
Full text: US, EP, WO, CN
Bibliographic only: JP, KR, NO
Are the patent data in original languages or English?
We have the English translation of all the bibliographic data for all patents. The original PDF files are in the patent country's original language. For example, a JP patent will have all its bibliographic data in English and the PDF file in Japanese.
How are the contents translated?
All contents are translated by machine currently.
