Define the storage duty before contacting vendors. A structured request for information should make the operating envelope and decision criteria explicit.
Compare the complete storage-and-release system rather than the storage medium alone. Vessel mass, insulation, thermal management, pumps, compressors, catalysts, purification, and controls can change the project-level result.
Where patent evidence fits into company evaluation
Patent documents can help identify technical themes, materials, vessel architectures, thermal-management approaches, and ownership changes. They can also reveal whether two companies use different routes to address the same engineering constraint.
However, a patent count does not prove commercial readiness, product performance, manufacturing capacity, or freedom to operate.
